The Architecture Behind Victory+

People ask us how Victory+ works. Not the pitch — the actual mechanics. How does a single streaming platform serve five teams across two leagues, handle hundreds of live games per season, and run on ten different device platforms without falling over?

The answer is not magic. It is architecture decisions made early, infrastructure that scales, and the operational discipline that comes from doing this with real games and real audiences — not in a lab.

Victory+ is APMC Sports’ own streaming service. We eat our own cooking. The Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Texas Rangers, NWSL, and WHL all stream on Victory+. NHL, MLB, women’s professional soccer, and major junior hockey — different sports, different schedules, different audiences, one platform.

The Roster

Victory+ currently carries:

  • Dallas Stars (NHL) — free streaming
  • Anaheim Ducks (NHL) — free streaming
  • Texas Rangers (MLB) — season pass model
  • NWSL — free streaming, including Sunday Night Soccer
  • WHL (Western Hockey League) — free streaming

The business models vary by team and league. Stars and Ducks games are free, ad-supported. Rangers games are behind a season pass. NWSL and WHL are free. This is deliberate. Different rights deals and fan bases call for different monetization approaches, and the platform needs to handle all of them without duct tape.

Ten Platforms, One Codebase Philosophy

Victory+ is available on Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung TV, LG TV, VIZIO, Google TV, iOS, Android, and the web. That is ten platforms, each with its own certification requirements, UI guidelines, remote control paradigms, and update cycles.

Building for ten platforms is not ten times the work of building for one — it is worse than that, because the interactions between platforms create complexity that multiplies. A Roku app behaves differently from a Samsung Tizen app, which behaves differently from an Apple TV app.

We solved this through a combination of shared business logic and platform-native UI layers. The core streaming, authentication, and analytics stack is consistent. The presentation adapts to each platform. This is why we can launch on a new platform in weeks rather than months — the hard parts are already built.

The Infrastructure

Victory+ runs on AWS. The core video pipeline uses:

  • AWS Elemental MediaLive for live encoding
  • AWS Elemental MediaPackage for packaging and origin
  • Amazon S3 for asset storage
  • Amazon CloudFront for global content delivery

This is not a bespoke stack. It is the same infrastructure that powers some of the largest streaming services in the world, configured for live sports — which means low latency, high reliability, and the ability to handle traffic spikes when a playoff game tips off and 500,000 concurrent viewers show up in 90 seconds.

We also support TV provider authentication with DirecTV and Comcast, which means fans who still have cable can authenticate through their existing provider and access Victory+ content as part of their bundle. Meeting fans where they are means meeting all of them — not just the cord-cutters.

Monetization Through Safe Exchange

Ad-supported free streaming requires an ad tech stack that actually works for live sports. Standard programmatic display advertising does not translate to live video. You need server-side ad insertion, real-time decisioning, and inventory management that respects the cadence of a hockey game or a baseball broadcast.

Victory+ uses Safe Exchange, APMC’s proprietary ad technology platform. Safe Exchange handles dynamic ad insertion across all ten platforms, manages advertiser demand, and ensures brand safety — which matters when your content is live and unscripted.

NWSL and Sunday Night Soccer

Victory+ launched Sunday Night Soccer — 25 exclusive NWSL matchups, free on Victory+. This is not a side project. Women’s professional soccer is one of the fastest-growing properties in American sports.

NWSL opening weekend 2026 drew 129,202 total attendance. Boston Legacy FC’s first-ever home match brought 30,207 fans. The audience was always there. It just needed a platform.

Sunday Night Soccer on Victory+ is a proof point for what this platform can do. Twenty-five exclusive matchups across a full season means consistent programming, consistent audience-building, and a reason for fans to come back every week. It also means Victory+ is not just a regional sports play — it is a national one.

Why One Platform Matters

Running five teams on one platform creates advantages that siloed, single-team apps cannot match.

Shared operational cost. The encoding pipeline, the CDN, the app infrastructure, the customer support — all of it is amortized across every team and league on the platform. Adding a sixth team does not require building a sixth streaming service.

Cross-promotion. A Stars fan on Victory+ sees that the Ducks are playing tonight. An NWSL viewer discovers WHL hockey. The platform creates adjacencies that single-team apps never can.

Advertiser scale. An advertiser buying across Victory+ gets reach across multiple markets, multiple sports, multiple demographics. That is a fundamentally different — and more attractive — buy than a single-team RSN.

Operational learning. Every game we stream makes us better at streaming the next one. The lessons from a Rangers broadcast improve the Stars broadcast. The NWSL workflow informs the WHL workflow. Institutional knowledge compounds.

The Playbook Is Proven

Victory+ is not a concept or a beta. It is a production platform streaming hundreds of live games per season across five teams, two leagues, and ten device platforms. It handles free and paid models, integrates with traditional TV providers, runs its own ad tech, and operates on infrastructure designed for the specific demands of live sports.

This matters because it is the same platform we offer to partners. When a team, league, or conference asks APMC about streaming, we are not selling a roadmap. We are showing them what is already running — with real games, real audiences, and real revenue.
